Pufferfish (also known as fugu in Japan) are indeed highly toxic due to the presence of tetrodotoxin (TTX), a potent neurotoxin.

Tetrodotoxin is found mainly in the liver, ovaries, intestines, and skin of the fish. It blocks sodium channels in nerve cells, preventing normal signaling and leading to paralysis or even death by respiratory failure.

Potency: It is estimated that tetrodotoxin is over 1,000 times more toxic than cyanide by weight.

As little as 1 milligram of tetrodotoxin can be fatal to an adult human.

No known antidote exists for tetrodotoxin poisoning, making it extremely dangerous.

Despite its risks, fugu is a delicacy in Japan, where specially trained and licensed chefs are allowed to prepare it.

The toxin is believed to originate from bacteria in the food chain (like Vibrio spp.), which the pufferfish accumulate.

Meet BD+05 4868 b — one of the most extreme exoplanets ever found. Located 140 light-years away, this scorching world orbits its star every 30.5 hours, putting it 20 times closer than Mercury is to our Sun.

At that range, the heat is so intense it’s vaporizing the planet’s rocky surface, creating a dust tail over 9 million kilometers long — nearly half of its orbit!

Nicknamed the “melting Mercury”, this tiny planet is losing mass fast — about the size of Mount Everest every orbit. With weak gravity and a shrinking core, scientists believe the planet could completely vanish within 1 to 2 million years.

But there’s a silver lining: this doomed planet’s dusty trail gives astronomers a rare chance to study the interior makeup of a rocky exoplanet — potentially unlocking secrets of how planets form and what makes them habitable.

Shaq Issues $1.8 Million Check to Resolve His Cryptocurrency Controversy
Shaquille O’Neal can finally breathe a sigh of relief. The basketball legend turned businessman and TV personality has agreed to pay $1.8 million to settle a class-action lawsuit over his role in promoting the now-defunct cryptocurrency exchange FTX.
