Calling the 2024 presidential race “the podcast bro election,” Curt Mills, executive director of The American Conservative, told Vanity Fair’s Aidan McLaughlin that President Donald Trump’s decision to attack Iran could have serious political consequences for Republicans heading into the midterms — and possibly beyond.
“If you accept that it was a podcast bro election, it is relevant that the podcast bros hate this,” Mills said of the offensive launched Saturday by the U.S. and Israel. He argued that if Trump’s coalition depends heavily on independent voters and newer media audiences, backlash over foreign policy decisions could dampen turnout in 2026.
