  • Scandinavian Rye Bread – Dense and Nutty

    A hearty and dense bread typical in Nordic countries, made with rye flour and often enjoyed with butter, cheese, or smoked fish.

    Ingredients (Makes 1 loaf):

    • 400g rye flour
    • 100g all-purpose flour
    • 1 tsp dry yeast
    • 1½ tsp salt
    • 350ml warm water

    Instructions:

    1. Mix yeast with warm water and molasses, let activate 5 mins.
    2. Combine flours and salt; add yeast mixture and knead into sticky dough.
    3. Let dough rise 1 hour in a warm place.
    4. Shape into a loaf, place in a greased loaf pan, let rise 30 mins.
    5. Score top, sprinkle seeds if desired. Bake at 200°C (390°F) for 45 mins.
    6. Cool before slicing.
