Iran has reportedly begun recruiting children as young as 12 to assist with checkpoint and patrol duties in Tehran.

Rahim Nadali, a cultural official linked to Iran’s Revolutionary Guards in the capital, said the age limit was lowered due to a rise in young volunteers. According to him, the program allows participants to support street patrols, checkpoints, and logistics.

The initiative, known as “Homeland Defenders of Iran,” has raised concerns as international standards restrict the involvement of minors in military-related roles. Residents and reports indicate that some teenagers have been seen at checkpoints, with a few allegedly carrying weapons during security operations.
