Thượng tướng Trần Quốc Tỏ chính thức thôi giữ chức Thứ trưởng Bộ Công an, theo quyết định của Bộ Chính trị và Thủ tướng Chính phủ. Ông Tỏ sinh năm 1962, quê Ninh Bình, nghỉ công tác trong ngành công an từ ngày 1/3, và tiếp tục thực hiện vai trò của đại biểu Quốc hội cho đến khi kết thúc nhiệm kỳ khóa 15. Vị tướng có 43 năm công tác trong ngành an ninh này từng kinh qua nhiều vị trí khác nhau tại địa phương lẫn Bộ Công an. Ông là ủy viên Trung ương Đảng các khóa 12, 13, đại biểu Quốc hội các khóa 14, 15. Tuy nhiên, tại Đại hội 14 diễn ra vào tháng 1/2026, tướng Tỏ đã không có tên trong danh sách Ban chấp hành Trung ương. Hồi tháng 5/2024, ông Tỏ được chỉ định phụ trách Bộ Công an khi Đại tướng Tô Lâm được bầu làm chủ tịch nước. Tuy nhiên, sau đó người chính thức lên lãnh đạo bộ quyền lực này là Thượng tướng Lương Tam Quang, đồng hương Hưng Yên với ông Tô Lâm.
