We’ve lost a true legend of animation

Veteran animator, director, and storyboard artist Barry Caldwell has passed away, leaving behind an incredible legacy that helped shape some of the most beloved cartoons of all time.

Throughout his career, he worked with major studios like Filmation, Ruby-Spears, Warner Bros. Animation, Disney, and DreamWorks — bringing stories to life with unmatched creativity and heart.

His talent lives on through iconic titles such as Animaniacs, Pinky and the Brain, Tiny Toon Adventures, Osmosis Jones, Alvin and the Chipmunks, The Smurfs, and Scooby-Doo! — just a glimpse of the joy he gave to generations.

Beyond his work, he was known as a kind, generous soul and a brilliant artist who inspired everyone around him.

In December 2024, he was diagnosed with Stage 4 Hodgkin’s lymphoma. He canceled appearances, stepped away from social media, and began treatment.

He became the first patient in Canada to receive an experimental chemo protocol — and it worked so well it’s now being used to help others.

On February 24, 2026, at 74 years old, he announced he is in full remission — and already starting work on a new live-action show.

For decades, he gave life to heroes.

This time, he had to become one himself.

Batman makes history on Hollywood Boulevard!

In 2024, Batman became the first superhero ever to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The dedication ceremony was held on September 26, 2024, at 6764 Hollywood Boulevard, right in front of the Guinness World Records Museum. His star marked the 2,790th addition to the iconic sidewalk.

According to Guinness World Records, the honor also earned Batman a record title as the only superhero with a star on the Walk of Fame. Since his debut in 1939, the Dark Knight has shaped global pop culture through comics, TV shows, animation, and blockbuster films — inspiring generations for over 85 years.
