A man named Shawn Mackey rented an Airbnb property in Memphis, United States, for about $567 per night during a weekend stay. He had informed the host that a few friends might visit during his stay.

After the booking, the host claimed that house rules were violated and requested around $960 in extra charges. Mackey refused to pay and left a negative review about the property.

Later, according to a lawsuit filed by Mackey, someone sent his wife an email from a fake account that included an image taken by an exterior security camera showing him with another woman.

Mackey then sued the host, accusing her of invasion of privacy and causing emotional distress. The host, however, has denied sending the email.
