    Classic Sweet and Spicy General Tso’s Sauce

    Ingredients:

    1/2 cup soy sauce

    1/4 cup hoisin sauce

    1/4 cup rice vinegar

    3 tablespoons sugar

    2 teaspoons cornstarch

    1/2 cup water

    1 tablespoon sesame oil

    2 cloves garlic, minced

    1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

    1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)

    Directions:

    In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, hoisin sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, cornstarch, and water until smooth.

    Heat sesame oil in a small saucepan over medium heat. Add garlic and ginger and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.

    Pour the sauce mixture into the saucepan and stir continuously.

    Bring to a gentle boil and cook until the sauce thickens, about 3-5 minutes.

    Add crushed red pepper flakes and stir to combine. Adjust seasoning as desired.

    Remove from heat and let cool slightly before using as a glaze or dipping sauce for chicken, tofu, or vegetables.
